If you are DIY savvy and have a pocket door that requires a bathroom type lock, here’s our guide on how to fit a sliding door lock in six steps! The following instructions are intended to guide the installation of our X89002, available in satin nickel, copper, and matte black finish.

For this task, you will need: a sliding door lock with fixings, 30mm drill bit, spade bit or hole saw, electric drill, jigsaw, pencil, and chisel.

Using a 30mm drill-bit, spade bit or hole saw, drill 2 holes in vertical alignment 138mm apart (centre to centre) and 53mm in from the edge of the door.

Note: to avoid any damage to the door these holes should be drilled from both sides of the door, meeting in the middle.

With the two holes drilled, use a jigsaw to cut from one hole to the other. Lining up both holes so that you have one long rectangular opening with radius ends.

From the centre of your top hole, draw a line out towards the edge of the door for reference. From this centre line, drill a 12mm hole from the centre of the edge of the door until it meets with the rectangular opening.

From the same reference line, measure 30mm down and drill another 12mm hole from the centre of the edge of the door until it meets with the rectangular opening. Chisel away the section of the lock block between the 2 holes to accommodate the lock case.

Use a chisel to chop out 12mm from the top and bottom of the lock case mortice with a depth of 4mm and width of 20mm so that the faceplate of the lock sits ush within the edge of the door.

Once all the holes have been drilled insert the lock case into the edge of the door. Place the lock operator side into the long rectangular opening so that it engages the pin through the loop. Place the lock indicator side from the opposite side of the door using the fixing bolts to secure the two sides.
